Review on πŸ”§ KNIPEX Tools 00 20 04 SB Precision Circlip Snap-Ring Pliers Set: 8-Piece Kit for Precise Snap-Ring Handling by David Reyes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Why would anyone buy such expensive pliers?

Because they work. These pliers have the word "precision" in their name to differentiate them from the standard product which has external springs, socket terminals and machined tips. These pliers have adjustable joints, internal springs and spring wire tips. The tips are not interchangeable, they are pressed. If you've worn out a pair of spikes (hasn't happened to me yet), you've made use of your $25, go ahead and buy another pair. The tips are beveled outwards on outer ring pliers and inwards on inner ring pliers. This is a great feature as the clip moves towards the pliers as you pull and stays on the pliers until the tension is released. Great feature. This set is suitable for 3/8" (10 mm) to 2 3/8" (60 mm). If you are an RC car enthusiast, gunsmith, airgun or paintball gunsmith, you need a separate external collet that fits 1/8" (3mm) to 3/8" (10mm). Thanks to Engineer in the Sky, they don't particularly make 1/8 to 3/8 internal snap rings, but if they did, Knipex would probably make them. You may need the Knipex 4911A0 Straight Male Retaining Ring Pliers 5.5" or the Knipex 4921A01 Angled Male Angled Precision Retaining Ring Pliers 5.2" which are sometimes out of stock, but don't rush to buy Revain as they are are. about $10 cheaper. Knipex also makes larger pliers for those of us who tinker with larger tractors and diggers. These are very good tools, they are forged steel and should last a long time and do what they were made to do.

Pros
  • The tips are made of high-density spring steel and offer a high level of protection against excessive stress and deformation
Cons
  • Some insects
