Review on Dark Gray FLIR Ocean Scout TK Monocular by Matt Conner

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great product for the price, don't expect anything crazy

I went cheap and bought a night vision scope but unfortunately for my purposes it had to have a large magnification factor. I didn't want to spend too much at first, but I enjoyed it so much that I was a bit more keen on spending more on better tech. I haven't regretted it at all, the thermal radiation is much better for spotting wildlife at night as you can spot things instantly without having to look, but it means you can't see the surroundings very well. Certain color options help you see your surroundings better, but the device is mostly good for wildlife viewing. Now let's move on to the main problem of the device. Camera quality: I can see a deer from about 50 meters away and know that it is a deer. Further away, it may look like it's just a hot spot. I personally don't mind it, but for those getting it for the first time, they might be disappointed with it. My advice is to buy it and try it for a while and if it's not good enough for you, send it back. It looks pretty clear up close though. Battery life and storage are pretty good, and it lasts quite a while whether stored for a few weeks or used for a few hours.
