Works great for cops!

As a deputy who received this FLIR just yesterday, I know it will be very useful in my work. When I used it last night, all heat sources were very clear. Great bang for the buck. Catch 1 burglary, mugging or other illegal activity at night, the purchase is worth 10x!

Cannot see clearly beyond 20 feet

Bought because it was advertised for use on a boat. From time to time we return to the lake where the logs are floating in the dark so buying one of these was a good idea. You can see clearly about 20 feet away, you can spot a person about 40 feet away, that's all. not 100 yards/300 feet. do not buy.

Excellent entertainment and interesting for viewing in the house

I got my wife as a gift. Well, well, maybe not ONLY for them. Thermography is a lot of fun. Day and night I could see hidden animals. It's definitely not a top-of-the-line thermal camera, but it's fine for home surveillance. Clarity is pretty good, and images are certainly acceptable once you get fairly close to the subject.

Great product for the price don't expect anything crazy

I went cheap and bought a night vision scope but unfortunately it had a large zoom for my purposes. I didn't want to spend too much at first, but I enjoyed it so much that I was a bit more keen on spending more on better tech. I have no regrets getting this at all, the thermals are much better for night time wildlife viewing as you can spot things straight away without having to look around but it means you can't see the surroundings very well. IR oscilloscopes can cost thousands of dollars costs. However, if you like to keep your feet wet, then this model is for you. It's not military grade, but it does amazing work in the dark on a tight budget. For example, on a warm, humid night, I was looking through the scope next to the woods on my property when I noticed several heat sources about 40 feet away.
