For years I thought I just couldn't master this skill. I used circular needles. I would have so many stairs it would be awful and uncomfortable. All my circulars curled up like in a past life. They are amazing. I took them out of the pocket (where they were folded) and held one end up in the air. They hung perfectly straight! Wow. I start my magic hat bow. No stairs. none. They bend perfectly, they have no memory, and after that they hang straight, even if they stay in the project for several days. 40" is a great length for Magic Loop Hats. You can also easily knit two 40" socks at the same time. I've used wool, acrylic, and cotton yarns - they all work well on these metal needles and they are sharp enough that I didn't have. Problem with random yarn separation. I've used 4mm for worsted and fine yarns. I haven't used it with lace, applique or bulky yarn yet.
