It's a shame I didn't discover this type of tarpaulin many years ago. This tarp is best described as a military tarp made from the same very thick cotton fabric used in the old style pole tent. It also has a very good weight so it drapes very well over items and doesn't look like it will be easily blown away by the wind. I used this as a shade for one of our windows overlooking the driveway which gets sun all day to get some shade and keep the temperature down. Both turned out great. The window felt cool and blocked the incoming sunlight very well. We haven't had rain yet to determine how water repellent it is, but I don't expect it to be as effective against rain as the fabric isn't that dense.
