Great part! - Parts

Picked up for my 1995 Ford F-150 4.9l l6 manual transmission. At 161,000 miles, the original Motorcraft starter in the Qdoba lot stopped working. I drove the truck home and cranked the starter until it struggled but eventually rolled over. Back home I looked around for an inexpensive but high quality part. Autozone asked $159 (without core), NAPA asked $150 (including core). However, this piece cost $46 (only $56 with 1 day shipping) and other reviews, although few, were generally positive. I received the item within the promised time, in clean packaging and it was well packed. Packed on top was a power curve test log with information including current, power, torque and voltage under various conditions. The starter also includes a detachable one-piece 6" electrical connector should you prefer to replace/splice the cable rather than reuse the old connector. None of the elements were extremely important, but it showed me how many companies try to please the customer rather than cut corners. I installed the part the next morning and it took 30 minutes max (probably less). Installation was very easy, but I highly recommend the 3" and 12" extensions and the angled extension adapter. Otherwise it becomes a great agony. It's not the detail, it's the position on many vehicles. After installation I turned the truck over and it started without a struggle, the old starter motor always turned slowly for the 5 years I've had it but this one seems to be springing to life. All in all no problems, fast delivery, excellent performance.
