I used hose to seal a 30 liter aquarium. I did it that way. After drying all the water, I wiped the inside with a towel and removed the old seals by pressing the blade against the glass. I cleaned the affected area with isopropyl alcohol and left it overnight to be 100% sure all the water had evaporated. The next day I rubbed alcohol again and left it for an hour. I then pressed the caulk around the two sides of the base and up through the corner, being careful to apply a little more where the three pieces of glass meet. Then I ran my finger over all three slots. Push down a little more on the other side of the base, through the corner and up, following with your finger. Repeat until the end and leave to dry. Once completely dry (at least 48 hours and odorless), test a small amount of water before filling the entire tank. If done correctly, it should dry about the same as the old grout did when it was fresh: smooth, with no holes, large protrusions, or bumps. At the very top I didn't seal the tank as it was only ever half full and the bottom was the problem. I just drained the old one a few inches from the top corners, cleaned the surface well and put the new one on top. No problem. According to the instructions the sealer was supposed to dry for 48 hours but after that it still smelled of vinegar (dilution) so I sent a gentle breeze from the fan to the aquarium for another 36 hours until I was sure the sealer had set. Your mileage may vary. What made me happy: Cleaned the aquarium in the bathroom, sealed the aquarium where it usually is. What I would like to do: I used a mechanism to protect my nose as the vinegar solvent smell is almost non-existent in the sealant. Work quickly in a well-ventilated area and go outside for air if necessary.
