. I got tired of converting milliliters to tablespoons and cups, so I bought this handy measuring cup that lets me measure milliliters directly. The measuring cup (which looks like a regular drinking glass) is thick and feels quite heavy and solid. Lines and unit markings are not engraved on the glass but are painted on the outside. The inscriptions are large, legible and appear accurate. My glass came with a cardboard insert that said "Recommended care - Hand wash." Avoid abrasive products. Do not use firmware. --- Therefore, this measuring cup is NOT suitable for use in the microwave or dishwasher. And when the markers are drawn, I can understand that warning. The heat and steam of the dishwasher or microwave will simply melt the lines. So I hand washed the mug and none of the marks have come off yet, but I'll have to wait and see if the marks wear off with time and continued use.
