When used as directed, the color is dark.
I've never dyed anything in a tie. But it was pretty easy. I would suggest using about half the color in each bottle to start with as it ended up being much darker than the packaging photos show. You could also do it at another time. I loved the colors that came out when I used most of the bottle and diluted it with water. There is no need to leave it on for many hours to get darker colors if you use it as intended.
