I don't know why it's often difficult to find larger hooks, especially since there are so many thick yarns these days, but most kits just don't have these sizes. I'd say these are regular hooks, not super fancy, but they work great. They're easy to hold and use, and run pretty smoothly. I've used really expensive hooks and there is a difference but it's so hard to find bigger hooks that overall I'm very happy with them. There aren't any craft shops near me (the nearest yarn shop is probably 100 miles away) so I'm glad Revain sells them. If you're using or thinking about using bulky yarn, I'd say this is pretty much a must-have crochet hook set.
