I've tried different types of knife sharpening systems, including different types of stones and electric sharpeners. Until I bought this Lansky system, I had never been able to really sharpen any of my knives. Not that I have a collection of high quality knives. Most of my knives are budget folding knives and a few camping knives that I bought more for price than quality. Inexpensive knives, however, should be able to sharpen to a nice sharp edge, even if that sharpness doesn't last long with repeated use of the knife. Well, the first four knives I sharpened using the Lansky system were sharp enough to shave with. We are talking about M-Tech folders and similar folders. So I can recommend this system without hesitation. To me it's well worth the money and I'll probably buy another one once this one shows significant wear on the whetstones. It's incredibly easy to use and delivers amazing results in much less time than a traditional sharpening stone. I don't think it will be that easy to use with knives that have blades longer than six or seven inches, but one day I will test some of my larger knives to see how this tool works with them is working. So far I like this tool. It works, it's fast and it's easy.
