They are great for storing spices. I read other reviews before purchasing and liked the advice of another reviewer: gently tug on the edges to tighten the lid if needed - works great. I find the magnet to be adequate, but honestly I wish it was a bit stronger. I bought 24 of these for almost $40 so I want this to last forever. However, I found that during their organization I managed to accidentally shoot down half of them twice. I don't think this should happen and I don't think it would if the magnets were a little stronger. The good news is that none of the lids came off in the process, so the spices didn't spill all over the place. But that's why I only gave 4 stars. I was delighted when they arrived too and immediately unwrapped them and slapped them in a sink full of hot, soapy water. DO NOT DO THAT. I have noticed that water gets stuck in the lid between the clear lid and the metal ring. Luckily I have a blower and was able to use it to blow out the stuck water. It was time consuming and maybe not everyone has a blower. I was concerned that leaving the water on the metal might rust the metal or that the moisture would damage the herbs/spices. The instructions said to clean with a damp cloth only, but I read that too late. Would I buy again? YES SIR. In fact I will be buying another 12-24 to complete this project. I warned my teens to be careful when accessing it.
