They are great for storing spices. I read other reviews before purchasing and liked the advice of another reviewer: gently tug on the edges to tighten the lid if needed - works great. I find the magnet to be adequate, but honestly I wish it was a bit stronger. I bought 24 of these for almost $40 so I want this to last forever. I've had them for 1 year - DON'T SPEND YOUR MONEY The last straw was Father's Day morning trying to bake cookies for my 80th year old father and could not open Gvozdika. I didn't originally write a review based on what it looked like straight out of the box. They were a bit thin but arrived in good condition and at the 'right price'. I bought 48 at first but then realized I needed more so I ordered another 12. I listened to the reviews which said "DO NOT PUT IN THESE SALTED SPICES" so no garlic

Third update. These things don't spin with ground herbs. and not just salt, as previously thought. You can't flip the tops over for sieving or pouring (your two options) because the top will get stuck. Chunks are great for herbs that are still intact, but many chunks won't work because tiny bits of ground herb (and salt) get stuck in the cracks and therefore prevent the tips from turning.
