Zen principle versus naked rice.

Sorry in advance, this is a long review to help people who don't know which brown rice protein to choose. I am sensitive to many foods (including whey and pea protein and many others), I have ulcerative colitis and I love tasty food. All of this makes me partially dependent on a protein shake in the morning to get the amount of protein I need. In my quest for an easy/naked plant-based protein, brown rice and pumpkin seed protein hit my body and taste buds! I have tried three organic brown rice proteins, this one, Zen Principle, Naked Nutrition and Swanson's. Zen principle is my best bet. It has the most neutral flavor of the three, which is very important to me. When I had the worst outbreak of ulcerative colitis, and also at other points on the elimination diet, I had to drink smoothies with no added cocoa or fruit. You don't want to make tough times worse than they already are with a bad taste in your mouth! Naked Nutrition has a similar base flavor but is slightly more bitter(?) making it a second choice. And I have to say the Swanson was disgusting and I retired from the race! The BR Zen Principle Protein also goes best with my smoothies (using a shaker bottle) with almost no sand. Naked Nutrition has a little bit of granularity, but not enough to stop me from eating it. In terms of nutritional value and amino acid profile, they are almost identical. NN uses organic sprouted brown rice, which contains small amounts of calcium, iron, phosphorus and magnesium. But for me, multivitamins make up for this lack of protein ZP. And for whom it matters, ZP contains 26g of protein and 2.37g of total carbohydrates in 30g of protein, while NN contains 25g and 4g respectively in 30g of protein. Finally, they're both dairy-free, gluten-free, and soy-free (NN states certified gluten-free). NN also has an independent third-party heavy metals test that ZP conducts itself. Zen Principle is also the cheapest per ounce ($0.79 per ounce) and is only sold in 3 pound bottles. Naked Nutrition is slightly more expensive, likely due to the use of sprouted rice and the fact that third-party labs test their products; $1.37 an ounce for a 1 lb bottle and $0.94 an ounce for a giant 5 lb bottle. Ultimately, taste, texture and price make Zen Principle Organic Brown Rice Protein the best for me!*** Update 4/07/21. For the first time since 2018, ZP Brown Rice Protein (Batch #20200515, Experienced 10/32/22) tastes and smells like it's a little spoiled. I'll try to see what ZP has to say about this.
