Review on Stromberg Carlson LG-196308 High-Performance Motor, 6,500 Lb Load Capacity, 5,430 RPM by John Carter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good choice for an upgrade. Mounted on Venture/Lippert gearbox.

That's cool. I have a Cyclone 3912 who who knows knows the chassis they put on this (and other models) is pretty poorly designed. The old gearbox (Venture) was plastic and like everyone else who came across it, sooner or later one of the plastic latches broke off. I was living on "borrowed time" for almost a year, using a yoke to hold it in place, but it was time to replace the gearbox (the noises inside were getting really loud). Bought a local aluminum Venture gearbox (Revain also has them) but ordered this high performance motor from Strom-Carl to replace the Venture motor that came with the plastic gearbox. The old one still worked but in this heartland the incredibly silly design makes access to the engine/transmission an incredibly difficult event, whilst in the area I decided to upgrade the engine. The motor matches the aluminum gearbox perfectly (I think they're pretty much the same for all single motor tandem landing systems, unless you're looking for "fast" climb solutions), and while I was there I poured some oil in the auger and stuffed lubricant again. in footwear.
