I had a great doorknob (traditional) on the front door. Outside, I installed a retractable screen, a nifty little invention. However, this setup requires an aluminum strip to be attached to the outside edge of the door opening, which is within 1.5 inches of the outside edge of my traditional doorknob. Because of this small gap, we often bump our knuckles when trying to open the door from the outside. It was very annoying. I switched to this lever handle which has a MUCH narrower HEAD and the lack of a knob makes it about an inch narrower. That makes all the difference and we'll never knead our fingers opening a door again.
