The filter itself seems to be of good quality. It's easy to cut and fit into my old window unit that I couldn't find an OEM filter for, and very inexpensive. Now manufacturers change their models every few years, retiring parts for old ones, so you have to buy a whole new device instead of just replacing the one part you need. Most things have become almost disposable. The previous window unit in my bedroom barely lasted two years. This one in my living room will soon be celebrating its 20th anniversary and still leaves most of my visitors freezing. I take my hat off to old Amanas.
