The ignition on my sister's '08 Ford escape junk turned the key and actually fired up 50/50 and it got worse like 20/80. I checked this part and it appeared to be worn out (a lot of play in the mechanism) I thought for $30 it was worth it. That was definitely a problem! installed in minutes (shocking on a ford lol) and the SUV fired up with ease. With this problem, most people think it's the key cylinder, but if the cylinder accepts your key and rotates forward with no problem, then your problem is definitely with the ignition switch. As I said above, they "play" in it, and your lock cylinder can't turn the switch all the way to start the car.
