We have had this roof rack for 10 years now. Survived so many journeys through the salt air of the Southeast Coast, the torrential rains of the Appalachian Mountains, the Blue Ridge and the Great Smoky Mountains, the cold of Vermont, the heat of the Arizona desert. He stuffed everything with 8 person luggage, years of packing and playing, sand toys, umbrellas, towels etc stuffed to the max. We finally replaced it this year because one of the straps finally snapped from very rough use. It's not waterproof, so wrap anything you don't want to get wet in plastic bags. But it's very, very strong, easy to slip on and off, and lasts a long time, even if you unceremoniously shove it into the garage between rides.
