I used this drill bit to drill 1" and 7/8" holes through 6x6" on my deck (cable rail installation). I successfully made 12 holes and now they just aren't sharp enough to fit through. The last 3 holes took a lot of pressure to get through. Now it just burns the tree and won't cut. This tool has a sloped curve. I would at one corded drill (my Dewalt batteries just didn't have the power and ran out quickly.) You have to lean on the drill with your body weight and then push and pull (think like a human hammer drill) every few seconds can clog the bit quickly, so when you're working with a thick piece of wood you have to pull a lot. Cutting holes in the already raised vertical beams was not easy. So does it work? Yes, if you need to do ten holes or fewer, that's fine. But it won't last forever. Definitely a One Project type tool. Or half a project in my case; Because my teeth will be dead before I'm done.
