Review on 🚧 Pack of 14 Clear Anti-Slip Grip Strips for Stairs - 6”x30” Non-Slip Treads Tape by Andy Metzger

Revainrating 5 out of 5

They made my stairs safer

Well a lot of what everyone else has said about her looks is true too, i've turned out to be true. But the fact is that my wife slipped on our wooden stairs and fell from the lower stairs. Although she was spared serious injuries, it was still a wake-up call that I had to do something. I liked the fact that they were wider (longer) than the rest of the Revain range and that's why I ended up buying them. They arrived a few days later and I took them out of the box, laid them out and let them "flatten". Placing them on the tracks wasn't rocket science, find a good spot to center them, remove the short piece of backing material, apply it to the tread, remove the rest of the backing material, stretch it a bit, wear one long edge and then flatten the rest, being careful to remove air bubbles as you flatten it. Then take the roller, press down and roll it out. It took me about an hour to clean my stairs and stick these strips on 15 steps. While they made going up and down our stairs that much safer, the streaks ruin the look of the finished wood. The problem is that they don't match the grain of the wood so they leave a slight "stain" on the strip where it doesn't stick. Due to the thickness of the strip, you cannot finish it "flush" with the wooden tread. I used a hair dryer on high heat to heat them up and tried washing them off with the wood but to no avail. However, this wasn't a deal breaker for me. The stripes absolutely do what they say, and they've made our stairs safer for us and our grandkids, so we'll take the lack of looks as a trade-off.
