what they don't tell you

I received my drain yesterday and was going to install it today, but after reading the instructions additional parts are needed before you can install it. What is not included in the description is that you need to install a "Y strainer or combination valve with ball valve and filter" on the inlet side to prevent dirt from damaging the drainage system. After an hour of searching the web, Y-shaped filters range from $12 to $60 and aren't always available. If I had known that beforehand, I could have ordered a Y filter and be done with it. Now I think I'll just return this auto drain and buy the one that comes with the filter.

Pros
 •
This compressor tank drain is electronically controlled to automatically drain the compressor tank to provide dry air. This tank drain can be installed in any position, has a 6' 1/2" power cord and supplies 115 volts/1 phase / 60 hertz. Offers a working pressure range of 0 to 230psi.
