Review on 🛡️ Premium SCHLUTER KERDI-BAND - 5" X 33' for Waterproofing and Sealing by Jon Johnson

Having never worked with the Kerdi Band before, little did I know that what was sent to me was much thicker than it should have been . I installed it over the curdie board joints in my shower stall. Then when I bought a second roll of Kerdi Tape from another store I found that this material was much thicker and I shouldn't have installed it. There is no point in making a perfectly flat surface (Curdy plate) unnecessarily uneven by applying thicker foil to the seams than necessary. Especially if you need to overlap the membrane, this thick membrane will reset the level of the tile. I tore it all down and covered the joints with the real Kerdi tape you should be using and now I have a much flatter and more even surface to tile. Another reviewer noted that it is a curdy membrane cut to look like a curdy band. That sounds right to me. The curdy membrane is 8 mils and the curdy tape is 4 mils, so when you overlap the curdy membrane you add a 16 mil bump to the plane of the tile. As a tiler, I don't need to add complexity that undermines my ability to evenly tile the shower stall. I wish I had never bought this.
