Review on CharJenPro MacBook 2018 2016 Ethernet Thunderbolt by Gary Flick

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I'm glad I got a USB-C hub with Ethernet port

plus additional memory. (My old MBP had a 1TB drive; my 2018 MBP only had a 256MB SSD.) After hours of reading comparison articles, reading product descriptions, etc., I settled on the CharJen Pro MacBar E for three reasons:- Good mix of ports for the price (at least for my needs), including two SD card slots - Fits flush with the left side of the MacBook Pro (vendor's video shows it "snaps" - it does) - One Presale question to the company was answered quickly and honestly. I wasn't disappointed - the device works well, looks good, and I've added a 256MB SDXC UHS-I card to double my MBP's "built-in" storage (since I'll keep the hub plugged in). Looking back, I'm so glad I chose CharJen's MacBar E (with Ethernet port) over their other models (like MacBar or MacStick). I've found that there's no easy way to connect new MacBooks with Thunderbolt 3 (2016+) to older Macs via target disk mode, a feature I've relied on for years to easily transfer large files between Macs. (In short, it now requires two expensive adapters and a cable.) However, with the MacBar E's Ethernet port, I can just transfer through file sharing with a cheap Ethernet cable, and it's fast.

Pros
  • . Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Not bad
