Great Networking Products

As any owner of the latest MacBook Pro hardware knows, Apple has chosen USB-C as the only port with internal support—no standard USB, SD cards, micro SD cards, or HDMI -Connections. As an avid photographer, the ability to import photos from SD cards was a must, so I went on a quest to add that functionality and settled on the CharJen hubs. The original I bought did the job, but lacked HDMI and Ethernet (for those days when you just need to be connected). To my delight, this dual USB C hub…

Walkthrough Solution: No External Ethernet Adapter Required

This is a walkthrough solution to the adapter problem for the latest MacBook Pro or Air. In fact, this product basically includes all the extra accessories you need for a MacBook Pro, just as much as you would take with any other laptop: an Ethernet adapter with an HDMI adapter, since many newer laptops don't have these ports. Advantages: - Convenient all-in-one solution that significantly reduces the amount of wiring. Rear Ethernet Port: They have designed a rear-facing Ethernet port that is…

Universal Hub in Computers & Accessories

This is the third USB-C hub I've bought from Charjen. The first was wired and had most of the ports I needed (except for the network port). I prefer USB-C hubs, which plug into the two USB-C ports on the newer Macbook Pros. The Charjen Matchstick adapter is smaller and mounts flush with my Macbook, but has no SD or network slots. The MacBar E is larger but has almost every connector I've ever come across. At work I have to carry my computer to different places and I face attempts to connect to…

Good combination of ports and performance.

I recently upgraded to a new MacBook Pro and needed more than just 4 USBC ports (Thunderbolt 3). I especially needed the ability to use the GigE, USBA, and HDMI ports for both work and home. I'm also known (just ask my wife) for doing an incredible amount of research before buying any electronics. Since performance only depends on the weakest link, I wanted to make sure the hub's performance was up to par. After extensive research I came across the CharJen Hub for Mac with GigE. It has held its

For the price and portability, this hub is a no-brainer!

Hub works great! My hard drives, MIDI keyboard and wireless mouse work well over two USB ports. The HDMI connection hasn't let me down yet, and 4K at 30Hz isn't too bad, but I can see how cool 60 would be. However, I'm not sure we can expect so much performance from such a portable and stylish device. My drives transfer data quickly, as does the SD card slot. The only minor issue is that the TB3 power connector doesn't charge your laptop as quickly, since the hub uses some of that energy for…

Doesn't offer enough power for a super drive, but overall works

When I bought my 2018 MacBook Pro I knew I would have a limited number of ports, but I figured there wouldn't be any big difference since we use all web and cloud materials. I am very wrong as sometimes an IT pro needs to connect directly to other devices that are not USB-C compatible. Sometimes you need to connect to an RJ45 cable, sometimes you need to read an SD card, and you still need access to USB-A devices, so I went with a hub with all those ports. I'd say this hub works pretty well…

The perfect all-rounder

The size is just right for me, not too long so as not to unnecessarily burden my Mac's USB-C ports. This is one of the good companies too, I bought one of their other hubs for another computer and this one is made from the same high quality materials. It just works, no WiFi glitches that you can get with different or slower ports. Gigabit ethernet (no drivers required, I just plugged a hub into my Mac, an ethernet cable into the hub and I had internet, easy), power-through port (as well as a…

I'm glad I got a USB-C hub with Ethernet port

plus additional memory. (My old MBP had a 1TB drive; my 2018 MBP only had a 256MB SSD.) After hours of reading comparison articles, reading product descriptions, etc., I settled on the CharJen Pro MacBar E for three reasons:- Good mix of ports for the price (at least for my needs), including two SD card slots - Fits flush with the left side of the MacBook Pro (vendor's video shows it "snaps" - it does) - One Presale question to the company was answered quickly and honestly. I wasn't…
