This thermometer uses standard 2032 type batteries. One battery was pre-installed but it was dead. Luckily I had a spare 2032 battery and the thermometer works great with my battery. The thermometer has a large screen that is easy to read. I like that it shows the minimum and maximum as well as the current temperature. Reset the minimum/maximum temperature by pressing the button. You can also change the degree F to C by pressing the button. All buttons are labeled and easy to press and respond instantly. I used a fridge thermometer and the accuracy seems good.
