I bought this scanner to convert hundreds of slides my parents took in the 60's and 70's and hadn't seen in about 20 years. This little dia converter is great for them. It's so small, light and easy to use. It transfers the slide image to an SD card, then connect the box to your computer via the USB interface and download the images. You can also just pop an SD card straight into your computer if you have a slot for it. It works great with iphoto if you have a Mac. The moment you plug it in and turn it on, iphoto pops up and asks if you want to import everything. There are other higher quality scanners, but they also take up a lot of space and the scanning process takes much longer. Some other reviewers have complained that the slots you put your slides in are too small, but I've only had this issue a couple of times and it's not big enough to outweigh the convenience and speed of this machine.
