One use while servicing my Kubota's front axle and my old Craftsman set with detachable tips went straight into the bin. Allegedly, a number of masters could do extra. Rings on shafts up to 2" (51mm). Ha, right! This shank was 1 5/8" (41mm) and there was no going away no matter how many times I tried, no matter what tips I used or how I had them installed. I chose this Knipex set after reading many Had read reviews here and elsewhere saying that a pair of solid needle nose pliers is the only way out you know what they are absolutely right I love mechanical work when I have the right tools but I've always felt that "click" more has to do with how they fly off (I got as far as that) than their springy connection. These Knipex pliers made it easy to remove and reinstall these snap rings. I've even taken others to *play* with them and some cleaning and repair work to do.One was external on a 70mm shaft and although these pliers have a claimed top range of 60mm the bracket was easy to remove.What for the casual observer who isn't, may not be obvious I've seen them up close, so the tip is extra tilted outwards. Rings and insides for int. rings. The detachable tips I had before kept tipping in and out. Rings, this caused the ring to slip off the spikes before you could even open the ring. I only wish I had bought them 30 years ago. I could have avoided so many headaches. Although I would never giggle, as I probably will every time I use them in the future, because I know.
