Using Roku Ultra with AVR

I'm using a Denon X-2000 AV receiver and HDMI cable to my TV via the ARC channel and a Logitech Harmony 650 programmable remote. So the Denon is the device that does the switching . I didn't care if anyone used the Ultra with an AVR. I also now have a Harmony 650. The programming software recognizes the Roku Ultra in its list of monitored devices. Setting up the Harmony was straightforward, although my Roku is connected to an Ethernet switch in the equipment rack with a CAT6 cable, so the Roku "referred to" the installation as "manual". Roku then asks for an IP address on the local network (actually asks for the last octet (after 192.168.1). Roku's first action was to download the update. This was very quick (maybe a minute), followed by a Restarting Roku. With Roku it's easy to choose a channel. Now I need to determine how long the stream of sporting events like Premier League football will be available on NBCSN. Maybe I can get rid of some cable services, we'll see All in all one well packaged and working device.

Pros
  • Voice Remote with Power and TV Volume Buttons. Plus a lost remote control and headphone jack for private listening with included premium JBL headphones worth 39.95.
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other models
