Review on πŸ”§ BikeMaster Safety Wire Pliers Set with 25-foot Stainless Steel Wire - Model 15-1554 by Warren Hess

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good safety pliers, wire cutters medium

Conclusion: I would definitely buy these if, like me, you only need them infrequently. Longer Version: I'm new to safety wiring, but have been cutting, insulating and soldering wire for decades (so I'm used to handling/cutting wire). That being said, I think these pliers work well most of the time. I was able to borrow a $200 set of snap-ons from a friend while waiting for them to show up at my door, and the snap-ons have a simpler locking mechanism with raised finger rests and they cut .032-inches -Litz wire much better. Snap-ons also rotate both clockwise and counterclockwise, but they're only advertised as rotating in one direction anyway, so don't tap them there. Get the job done and even with twisted wire you can eventually get them to cut, but I just put a trusty old pair of needle noses with wire cutters in my tool kit and found it easier to cut through twisted wire. ... So, in my view, they are doing what they have to do. I only insure a few things on my track bike which means they spend about 99% of the rest of their life idling so I don't jump on them. Spend $200 on the best pair.
