Aside from cutting the wires afterwards, they work great!

As for curling, they work great. Block easily and hold without question once blocked. This is a smaller size, suitable for .032 inch stainless steel safety wire, a decent amount of which is included in the pliers set. I've used them on many motorcycle grips and exhaust sleeves and it's possible they'll be used on some airplanes in the future as well. . I'm sure they work just as well in the twisted part as any other similar sized pair that will easily break the wire before failing or letting…

Good quality - can't compete with the price!

I've been servicing airplanes for 40 years so I use these pliers a lot. I was pleasantly surprised at their quality - they are at least on par with the Blue Points I bought 30 years ago ($79 in 1990). I've used most if not all other brands that cost a lot more and wasn't thrilled. Even when I was brand new I had issues with others not staying closed. They stay securely closed even with .041" wire. I've used them with .020, .025, .032, and .041 inch wire. The gripping pattern on the jaws will…

Great wire blocking pliers at a great price!

These are great wire locking pliers for the money! I am very happy with it. When closed, the clip is tight and the rotating function works well. I have 30 years of aviation maintenance experience and these pliers come close to my military grade. The red anodized finish also looks very cool. You just have to protect them a bit from other tools to keep them looking good. These pliers are the smaller of the two. This counts as 6 inch pliers. Ideal for tight spaces and works well with .020" and…

So here's the deal: I bought these because the safety wire cutters I've used for 25 years have worn out. When I was shopping for a new tool, I found that pliers range in price from $20 to $150. more expensive pliers compared to cheaper ones. I decided to take a chance and buy them for $21, if they sucked then at least they weren't $100 pliers. If they're good, I'll win if I have one of these on the lower end of the price range. Now I don't use them on my bike anymore, I'm an airplane mechanic…

Great for general purpose

I kept these safety wire cutters in my tool box along with the .032 gauge safety wire spool. Licensed by A&P in June 1979 and active in the airline industry until July 1995. I've used snap-on safety wire pliers for most of my years and my review of this red pliers is based on comparing the two pliers. These pliers are smaller and a curse and a blessing at the same time. The smaller size means they take up less space but also make it more difficult to attach to two or more strands of wire at the

Pros

  • Not bad, but...

Good safety pliers, medium-sized wire cutters

Conclusion: I would definitely buy these if, like me, you only need them infrequently. Longer version: I'm new to securing wire, but have been cutting, insulating, and soldering wire for decades (so I'm used to working with wire). That being said, I think these pliers work well most of the time. I was able to borrow a $200 set of snap-ons from a friend while waiting for them to show up at my door, and the snap-ons have a simpler locking mechanism with raised finger rests and they cut…
