In many ways this product deserves 5 stars. Cables longer than 12 inches are sufficient for most applications. The common problem with other USB port hub products of unwanted dust getting into unused USB ports is much less of a problem with this USB port hub product because: (1) it only has 2 USB ports instead of 4 or 5 there. , and (2) When one of the 2 USB ports is not in use, the weighted head faces down or out of the way, making it difficult for dust to get in. HOWEVER, this product becomes useless if 1 out of 2 devices that need to be connected to this product has a large (thick) header area. This problem is similar to the situation when the transformer is plugged into a power strip. Once the transformer is connected, other electrical devices cannot be connected because the transformer occupies all the space where other electrical wires need to be connected.
