I have followed some online advice and have been successful. Very good value for the money. I was able to get clear or almost clear balls of ice by doing the following, mainly from other reviews: I used a Coleman 8qt cooler with about a half inch of water at the bottom. I've tried all types of water: distilled, boiled, filtered, and boiled water, but regular hot tap water gave clear ice as well. Fill the pot with hot tap water to collect all 4 shapes. If you can get up to dip your hands in the hot water, assemble each mold by submerging it completely in the water, place your finger on the vent, remove it from the pot, and line the hole with it face down into the cooler. You can see if air bubbles are visible at the top of the mold. If so, rebuild. Repeat for other shapes. I put them in the fridge, put the lid back on and put them in the freezer. Now I'm trying to freeze without the lid. To remove, I take the ice block and molds out of the fridge, run some water to loosen them from the ice block, but be careful not to break the ice from rapid thawing. I did notice that I got a little icy "nipple" - I don't know why, it looks like there is no expansion area otherwise the price holds. About 16.4 cooked in the freezer.
