This 3D pen works well. It's definitely better for older kids (at least 8+) and there's a way to control how fast the thread comes out and how fast (or slow) you "draw" with it. It definitely takes practice, but this is a good device for kids or adults. You can get through the thread pretty quickly, so be prepared to buy extra right at the gate. For those who aren't that "left-brained," I'd also recommend getting a design book to work with. A good inexpensive gift and a pleasure to use.
