Review on Optimized for SEO: Rightline Gear Full-Size Short Truck Bed Tent 5.5-ft by Eric Smalley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This tent looks fantastic.

I like this tent so far. I just got it and haven't used it for camping yet, but it was love when I first opened the box! I read ALL reviews, yes ALL. I wanted to make sure I was the right size for my 2015 Dodge Ram Short Bed Truck, and I wanted to make sure I didn't make the mistake of assembling like so many others (and damaging their tents in the process). It took a few minutes to figure out how to align the tent on the truck. I had to look at the photo on the packaging. Based on other evidence, I made sure I did NOT tighten the side straps all the way to the end. The poles fit very snugly in my truck's tent. I didn't force anything, just rocked and shook the tent to make sure everything fit and didn't tear. It's a nice fit and looks great. I found that my truck didn't have edges for the hooks to catch on the sides very easily, so I had to improvise. I hooked the front hooks into the rear door under the seat and just strapped the door shut. Ideal! I also had to attach a side strap to the rear wheel. Everything still worked perfectly. I bought a 5ft crib to put in, but unfortunately the crib protrudes all the way out of the back door and the door doesn't close conveniently so I won't be using the crib. If you're experienced in pitching tents with poles, it's easy. I put it in front of my house in the yard (in the shade as it was about 90 degrees that day) and I took my time and READ THE INSTRUCTIONS 2-3 times before going after it. I didn't want to tear anything. I probably spent 30 minutes setting it up. It only took so long because I was really confused. I know I can set this up easily in 10-15 minutes (I'm a 55 year old female). I am very happy to use it. Reviews have said that when the rain cover is on, it actually restricts airflow through the upper screened roof. I can build something to keep the fly higher on the roof for better airflow. But we will see. I have a nice little battery fan that I can use. I have a camp trip planned for late September 2017 but I don't think I can wait that long to try it. Must find a campsite NOW! After camping I'll try to remember to update my review! crossed fingers

Pros
  • HIGH-QUALITY PROTECTIVE CONSTRUCTION: Seam-taped waterproof fabric (PU 2000mm) keeps you dry, while the tent's heavy-duty straps and nylon buckles won't damage your truck's paintwork.
Cons
  • Minor issues
