I wanted to upgrade the temperature control system in my heated garage. I didn't want to make the garage livable, but to keep it from freezing on very cold nights. The thermostat that came with the heater was not digital so it was hard to tell where it was installed. It's even harder to get it back in the same place after I've brought it into the garage to work on a project. The thermostat I bought afterwards was digital but had a minimum setting of 40F. It was too hot for my purposes and would have required too much gas. This thermostat allows you to set setpoints as low as 35F. I currently have sub-zero temperatures and run my heater at 37F. The snow on the ground remains liquid and the windows in the garage are only slightly frozen. If I decide to increase the heat, as I did when I needed to quickly change the shear pin on my snow thrower, the heater responds immediately to the setpoint change. I am very satisfied with this product!
