I am an IT specialist and have a lot of experience with networks. Much of this type of gear is a huge challenge for the hindquarters to set up and manage. This device is very easy to set up and works mostly as advertised. I'm pleasantly impressed. For those of you who are interested, this is looking very good; beautiful shape and color that should be easy to combine with your decor. If necessary, you can purchase a transparent acrylic tray for this purpose. I bought one but sent it back as it didn't come with any mounting hardware. I'm glad I did because I couldn't position the devices the way I originally planned. Positioning the devices for the desired reception was a bit tricky, but I managed it in the end. I placed the main unit in the middle of my house. The satellite set was placed in the corner of the TV room at the other end of the house; It's hardwired to Roku and AirTV devices. Everything else is wireless. The Revain Fire works well despite being only a few inches from the satellite. My computer had good reception without an external antenna and excellent reception with an external antenna. There are no noticeable problems watching HD TV, playing Alexa music and downloading content to PC at the same time. I recommend moving your devices around the house to find the best position. After each rotation, press the button to reconnect the satellite and the master. If possible, you want both devices to display their own lucky blue lights (e.g., a satellite will show yellow if it's not optimally positioned, and purple if it's very unlucky). Then: 1) Walk around the house with your phone and look at the number of Wi-Fi bands. You may have to stop and wait at each location as most phones will take a minute or two to re-register reception and display the reception bands again; 2) Do the same with any device you will be using that shows reception level. If you have a laptop, run the speed test from different locations. It will take time (and a lot of effort) to find the best positions for the main and auxiliary units, but it's worth it. The setup instructions are reasonable and the control dialog is actually pretty good. I like being able to add a description to my devices. I haven't messed around with the options that come with it because they all fit my needs. BEFORE you start pairing the first device, change the passwords for both the admin user and Wi-Fi, especially the latter. For maximum security, use 12 characters and attach them to the bottom of your device so they don't get lost. IMPORTANT NOTE. This modem is approved by Comcast for service up to 400Mbps under mydeviceinfo on their website as netgear-cbr40-647. They do NOT support it for their high speed services. As far as I know, AT&T doesn't allow you to use your own modem. Final consideration: I haven't done this, but I think it's possible to switch to this device without changing all the devices connected. I would only recommend this to a confident user with experience. Make a note of the SSID (network name) of your existing Wi-Fi router, then turn it off. Change Orbi's SSID to match your existing SSID and change your Wi-Fi password to match your existing Wi-Fi password. I believe this should work. I didn't because my existing WiFi password was only 8 characters long and I took this opportunity to increase it to 12.
