The gears in this kit mate perfectly with the OEM gears in the motor assembly and mate well. After replacing the gears, I proceeded to reinstall the motor assembly. The new output shaft fitted the governor pulley more tightly than the original shaft. Consequently, when I tightened the engine mounting bolts, it pushed back the controller housing and broke the small plastic tabs that attach it to the inner door panel. The controller housing fell into the door and the pulley cables unwound. I checked the CX-9 repair manual and it said "do not unwind cable". They weren't kidding. After several hours of fiddling with the ESC wires, I gave up and ordered a new ESC assembly.
