I bought this product to prevent the tailgate of a 2016 Toyota Tacoma from being stolen. Tailgate theft is on the rise nationwide, particularly in Arizona, Texas and California, where 69% of tailgate theft claims come from. I installed this clip on the right hinge of my tailgate with no problems. Love the fact that it is a rotating key clip that allows you to remove the key which makes removal that much harder. A regular wrench or screwdriver won't work, other tools can be difficult to use, but I think the time it takes to mess around with the process will deter a thief from just walking to the nearest truck in the parking lot. The locking mechanism does not interfere with the function of the tailgate. I put the key for the future in the glove compartment. Love the fact that there are two packs, I sent the other one to my father in law. On the Toyota Tacoma, the right side is the only side with a retractable hinge, so you only need one. Great product that I highly recommend.
