In the wood and metal turning courses I taught in the workshops, I focused on safety and the basics of using the lathe and tools. I've seen professional metal detectors use anti-fatigue mats. When I stand in front of the Powermatic lathes in the Techshop for 6 or 7 hours and teach wood turning and/or metal spinning, I am completely exhausted. My legs hurt and I can hardly stand up and go home after two lessons. I took two steps to solve this problem. I plan to only do one class a day at the techshop and secondly I bought an anti-fatigue mat like the one shown below. This mat is perfect for our lathe. Everyone loves this rug. I will never work without it again.
