Review on Enhanced Flight Safety with Stratux ADS-B Receiver: Weather & Traffic - Units with Antennas by David Bar

Ordered a few days before a long VFR trip on my 182 that I hadn't planned. I was planning to build my own using the Stratux model. Not having enough time, I decided to order this device assembled. Does everything a STRATUS does except makes AHRS a little jumpy on preflight. I bet it's only a matter of time before Mr. Young and his people get it right. From what I've heard, AHRS works great on most EFBs. In-flight graphic radar and current METAR across the country was critical as I dodged wx for 1600 miles. Hey it might take 5-15 minutes but keep it 50 miles away and no problem. It is as good as FIS-B. The TIS-B I found worked in real time or near real time for traffic information. This device made my trip a lot less difficult/dangerous as I could change my plans mid-flight to avoid bad weather. There was only one problem with it as the GPS antenna was unreliable, but Foreflight had no problem using my old XGPS150a with Bluetooth for GPS and Stratux for everything else. I contacted the manufacturer and they immediately sent a new GPS module and it works like a champ. So it can be said that this is a STRATUX that works on a plug and play basis, not a DIY one. It cost me an extra $100 since I didn't have time to build it myself. The support from the manufacturer was fantastic
