Correct part (with tie rod) for my 2002 Suburban

This was just what I needed to fix my broken E-Brake intermediate cable on my 2002 Chevy Suburban. I assume this will work on other similar wheelbase GM trucks, but it was the right part for my 02 Suburban. A couple of notes: This one has the threaded end adjuster rod that my Suburban had what I'm assuming. the OEM cable can be clicked. As other reviewers have noted in regards to other similar parts, many E-Brake intermediate cables don't come with a threaded adjustment rod, meaning you have to loosen the tension and re-tighten the system elsewhere, which is a lot harder and harder is wrong too. OEM came. This cable was basically the same design as mine. This cable does NOT contain EQ like some other unstrained cables. The equalizer is a metallic "T" that matches the two rear e-brake cables to this single intermediate cable that runs up front. This means you have to reuse the part currently on your truck or buy that part elsewhere. My previous cable got rusty and broke right where the adjuster rod meets the cable so I had to soak an equalizer in a PB blaster to remove the old broken end and adjuster rod (much easier on a bench than under a truck) . . This new one worked exactly as it should. This cable contains a cable connector/sleeve to connect this intermediate cable to the front e-brake cable coming out of the footwell. My OEM connector was pretty rusty/melted so again it took a lot of PB Blaster impregnation and a couple of vises to cleanly disconnect the old cable without damaging the front e-brake cable. As some have noted, this cable doesn't appear to be exactly the same gauge/gauge as the broken one I replaced, but it appears to be well built, properly assembled, and has a proper adjustment shaft that many other cables don't have. Apparently not. The hardest part of all this work is getting rid of the old stuff when you have corrosion/rust. Just have a good penetrating lubricant, a vise, wrenches and a little patience and it's a fairly quick and easy job.

Pros

Cons
  • So far so good
