Review on Heat Diffuser for Gas Stove or Electric Stove: Flame Guard Simmer Plate - Home-X Review by Anthony Epps

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Discoloration and sticking to the board after 1 week of use

Edit: Don't buy it. I changed my rating to 1 star because not only did they discolor the first time I used them, but they started sticking to the metal of the gas stove after about a week of use! They also turned brown underneath as if burned. Something seems very wrong and I won't be using them again once I get new ones from a different brand. If you have a gas stove, don't buy it. Original review: I just got it. Keep in mind that I've only used them once, but that's why I'm writing my review so soon. As the bad reviews say, they discolored the first time they were used. I've used two I bought for about 8 minutes each and they're already looking cheeky so I'm a little concerned. I figured since they're stainless steel they wouldn't, but they don't seem to. For context, I have an open flame gas stove, and I bought it because it's an old stove that only heats to one temperature: high. So I thought this would solve the problem. Well I think they lowered the temperature from high to at least medium. Maybe I could soften it to a lower temperature if I put one on top of the other. In any case, if you're concerned about discoloration, I wouldn't take them.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Expensive insurance
