If your cap or topper was not dealer installed then this item is a must have if you want CHMSL to function properly. That is, if your brake and signal lights are a dual filament bulb, otherwise the CHMSL will flash when your signal is in use. This is not only annoying, but illegal in most states. This device solves the problem and makes the installation look professional. There is no need to run an additional wire from the brake light switch back to the CHMSL. You only need to route the cable from the right brake light to the left, which greatly simplifies the installation. Basically, once installed, the logic circuit "latches" on CHMSL when you use your signals, so the light stays on when the brake is applied and the signal is used. Highly recommended and a must if you want to get things done right.
