I'm not sure if it's the second one, but it's a hole.
not sure if it's the second one but the hole needed to tighten it was the right size at one end but too small at the other end. I have not tested the other needles I have ordered from them but I will. If this happens with other needles I will contact the manufacturer for a refund.
