Review on BeaverCraft Spoon Carving Knife SK5 by Sasha Hsiao

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It is an indispensable tool for a woodcarver.

I've just started planing and carving wood as a serious hobby and easily carved a spoon out of a piece of pine using a set of inexpensive tools. I thought the bowl should be next, so I found a nice round maple and started. After weeks of struggling with hardwood and my project still barely recognizable as the bowl it would eventually become, I decided it was time for a better tool. It seemed to have the best reviews, but it sold out for a while. . When I finally used it I was amazed at how easy it was to actually peel off the little maple swirls. If I had had it from the start the bowl would have taken half the time. I'm a little worried about how to properly sharpen it when the time comes. But it holds the edge very well. When I finished my project I touched the edge a few times with a twisted piece of leather, but I don't have the curved stones to sharpen them when I eventually need them. At this point I'd say it lasts the blade about 5 or 10 times longer than a chisel/chisel set.
