Absolutely great for frying in cast iron

What I like: Beautifully designed user controls. Stable on its base, with attractive lines. Great for frying. What could be better: the hob is 10 inches in diameter - maybe a little small for a large water pot. Cooked up some onions and hot dogs on this induction cooktop for the first batch of last night's dinner. The seller supplies you with a handy little magnet that you can use to test the functionality of your pan or pot. I have a couple of skillets that do just fine, one of which is my trusty 10-inch cast iron skillet. Wow, what culinary power! I set the pan to fry, which is a setting below maximum (meaning boiling water). Within seconds, the butter layer in the pan melted, and when I tossed in the chopped onion a few seconds later, it was already hot. And dammit, that thing is fried! I mean, I was really impressed with the very hot heat my cast iron skillet developed - worthy of a restaurant. You had to keep the vegetables moving or they would burn, which was perfect for the cooking method I was looking for. I primarily use this stove outdoors at the grill station so I can grill veggies while flipping burgers. . For that, this piece needs to be the perfect pair once the perfect BBQ season returns. In the meantime I'll have fun trying other ways, maybe stew or boiling water for pasta. I noticed that the recommended diameter of your chosen cooking vessel is 10 inches, so I'm not sure it's a good choice for say, a lobster pot. It doesn't matter if. I don't expect a miracle with the "socket" 110 volts that this thing consumes. My range is pulling 240 volts for a reason, right? I'm in good shape for what I've been looking for. Five stars.
