Purchased to connect a desktop computer with HDMI output to a VGA monitor. The product description states that this usage works. However, when I received the product, it did not work. It turned out that the image on the monitor was divided into 4 strange areas that were randomly placed on the screen. So that the lower left corner of the screen is in the upper right corner. Colors were also distorted and didn't look right. We tested the monitor, cable, and HDMI port coming out of the computer and everything worked fine. This leads me to believe that the adapter is defective and not working properly. Maybe it was a defective item or just bad luck. And I could definitely return it. But considering the price of the item I didn't think it was worth the hassle. If you are short on money and willing to go through the process of returning a potentially defective item then I would say go for it.
