Had to drill some holes in my shower screen for a grab bar. My tile is a very hard shiny porcelain and I went through a couple of carbide bits with only one hole. This diamond drill did the trick and I was able to drill five more holes with no problem. There are a few things to keep in mind when using bits of this type that will give excellent results. Since it looks more like a hole saw, you should start drilling at a 45-degree angle. If you started with the round groove, you can continue with the straight corner. If you try to start straight, the snaffle will slip all over the surface, so be sure to start in a corner and move slowly to gain better control. 2. Use plenty of water to keep the bat and tiles cool. This will prevent the drill from melting and losing the diamond tip. I used a wet rag to blot the drill bit and wipe the hole to fill it with water. I watched closely and stopped each time I saw steam rising from the tile just above the hole. I probably trained 10-15 seconds between cooldowns. Take the time to keep a close eye on things and it will work. I have attached a picture of the drill bit after five holes and you can see there is still a lot of diamond on the tip.
