Review on Corsair Dominator Platinum 128GB (8X16GB) DDR4 2666MHz C15 Desktop Memory by John Goerge

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works great with Asus Prime B350 Plus motherboard with Ryzen 5 1600 processor

I bought this memory to build an Asus Prime B350 Plus / Ryzen 5 1600 computer. I originally wanted to go with 16GB and ordered a Corsair Vengeance RGB LED 16GB DDR4 3000 C15 Kit (P/N: CMR16GX4M2C3000C15 ) here on Revain as it was on the motherboard qualified supplier list, but I was only able to get it . Working on 2133 which was bad for me as the QVL had a version number after the P/N and I assumed I would get the latest version through a wholesaler like Revain and ended up getting an earlier version and it wouldn't run fully Speed (version numbers matter! - especially if you're running newer MBs/processors that aren't a mature product line). Anyway, I have the Corsair Dominator Platinum 32GB (2x16) P/N: CMD32GX4M2B3000C15 (Note to Revain - don't group tech stuff reviews as they can mislead people! That's why I'm posting P/N specific info! ), which does not require any specific version and works as advertised with no issues. You are using an ASUS Prime B350 Plus motherboard. This memory kit runs at d speed but a bit confusing setup. First update your BIOS (at the time of writing this post the current version was v0806 and yes it required an out of the box update but the BIOS update utility in setup works with both web download and offline option excellent - it always did as AMI Bios !) and then optimize the memory with "Ai Tweaker" in advanced mode. In this review, I've included some screenshots of the BIOS setup screens that I hope people will find helpful. Note that this memory does not run at 3000MHz, but at 2933MHz (which is listed in the memory QVL).

Pros
  • Hand tested performance chips; DHX Cooling
Cons
  • Can I add something
